Naveen Jain
Co-Founder
Naveen was born and grew up in rural India in the 60s. India at the time was an under-developed nation swamped in scarcity. In his early childhood days, Naveen saw true scarcity around him, especially of quality education. Though poor, his parents insisted on him getting educated. Naveen worked hard and developed intellectual curiosity through his early education. He got into one of India’s most prestigious Institutes, IIT -The Indian Institute of Technology, a feat few could achieve at the time. At the IIT, he earned his engineering degree and also built the confidence to achieve bigger dreams. Having witnessed scarcity all his life, Naveen developed a mindset of abundance. What if everything we value in life becomes abundant?
He thought. This thought opened the flood gates to his imagination, and with determination to make his dreams a reality, he moved to the United States. Naveen had tremendous success early in his career, but helping others was always a priority for him. He merged his mindset of abundance and the thought of helping others to create his first venture Infospace. He started his own family at the same time with Anu, who stood by his side like a rock through the smooth sailing and the tough years.
Naveen Jain is on the board of Singularity University, an interdisciplinary university with the mission to educate and inspire leaders to address humanity’s grand challenges through innovative technologies.
Naveen was not satisfied with one venture. He says that it is easier to solve largescale problems than small ones. He relentlessly pursued his big ideas and imagined the possibilities of the impossible. His next ventures, Viome, and MoonExpress are a testament to this philosophy. Naveen is a creative wizard in his own right, a pioneer who can think beyond disciplines, borders, and even planets. He created many more ventures with the firm belief that imagination is the only limit. Through his philanthropic work, Naveen also kept giving back to the community in many ways.
He has chronicled his principles and learnings into the book, Moonshots: Creating a World of Abundance. A true entrepreneurial genius, Naveen has received several accolades for his achievements. Ernst and Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year, Silicon India’s Most Admired Serial Entrepreneur, Albert Einstein Technology Medal, Red Herring’s Top 20 Serial Entrepreneurs Lifetime Achievement Award, and many others.
As a visionary, he serves on the boards of many organizations, where he inspires the next generation with a fearless audacity to turn impossible dreams into actions. Naveen believes each one of us has a Moonshot Potential, not just figuratively, literally too! We can reach the moon and beyond if we dare to imagine!
